JORDI AND THE CARPET SHARK

I was swimming in Cairns, suddenly just like magic an unusual thing appeared in the darkness. It was a shark and luckily it was a carpet shark. I swam up to it. Its skin was so rough I nearly cut myself. I held it and it wriggled out and a whole group came to me. I swam into a nearby cave, there were ten holes and I went into the biggest hole. The water was much clearer. It felt nice on my skin.

THE AQUARIUM VISIT

Here are some pictures showing our trip to the aquarium in Mapua.

It was a great experience to carry out a scientific investigation into shark behaviour.

AMELIA AND THE SHARKS

Swoosh I saw a shark zooming through the murky water. I got my gear and put it on then I dived in. By the time I got under the water it was too late. So I went on swimming, it was fun. I saw a dark mysterious cave. I swam into the cave and I saw some swell sharks and a Wobbegong. It was sooooo awesome.

SASKIA AND THE SHARKS

Splash! I can’t believe it, I was really in the ocean where all the greatest fish and other mammals live. WOW the first shark I have ever seen. I think it was a Whale Shark the biggest sea creature. Oh my gosh, that’s scary.

LOGAN AND THE SHARKS

In 2006 I felt like going on a holiday. I felt like going to Japan and after two days I saw a boat then it came to me. I went on a fishing boat and it felt like the Titanic. Then I dived into the deep blue sea. Then I saw my first ever shark.

RHIANNON AND THE SHARKS

I counted to see how many sharks I saw tonight and I saw a lot. I was swimming at Kaiteriteri when I saw a lot of Hammerhead sharks and one carpet shark.

Kalani and the Sharks

Splash! I dived into the water. It was quiet except for the boat bumping up and down in the waves. Suddenly a Spinner shark was sprinting at me; it was about two meters long. It started to get dark. The light got dim and the water got murky, just the right time to film sharks.

Tiare and the Sharks of Australia

I was diving straight in the water. I was in there because I was going to research the swell Shark. I was trembling with fear about being eaten or critically hurt. I was in Australia because most of the swell sharks live in coral reefs. Just then I felt a slimy thing go across my leg. I was quite close to a shark.

LILLIAN AND THE SHARKS

I wanted to swim with sharks. I saw a great white, at first it was scary. Then I saw a group of Hammer Heads they were kind of cute.

Billy and the Sharks

I jumped into the water and the first thing I saw was a cookie Cutter Shark. It swam away, I swum deeper and deeper. My oxygen was pumped by the boat because I was under there too long.

JAYNA AND THE SHARKS

It was my first time and it was a bit scary. I counted to three… whoosh, I jumped in. WOW! It was amazing to see it, look at all those sharks swimming around in the water. Oh no I thought, it was a great White shark, all the other sharks swam out of here. I didn’t know who I was swimming with. There weren’t just sharks; there were heaps of fish that were being eaten by the sharks. It was actually fun to be swimming with the sharks.

Drew and the Sharks

On a Friday morning it was raining. I was thinking how it would be to experience swimming under the deep blue sea. I joined a diving company and I got some cool diving gear and some air tanks. The day came when I was going to experience my first dive. I took a deep breath, SPLASH!!! I was freaked. A shark rushed up toward the surface, it was a Leopard shark.
